Commercial Office Space to Rent in Bolton & Serviced Office Property to Let in Bolton, Greater Manchester

Bolton is a town and metropolitan borough in Greater Manchester, England. It is located 10 miles northwest of Manchester, about 30 miles northeast of Liverpool and 18 miles southeast of Preston. The postcode for the town of Bolton is BL1-BL7 and the town has a population of about 139,000.

Bolton started out as a small settlement known as Bolton Le Moors due to its close proximity to the West Pennine Moors. It served as a Parliamentarian outpost in a mainly Royalist dominated area during the English Civil War. Economically, Bolton was shaped by the Flemish weavers who settled during the 15th-century, who established the wool and cotton weaving tradition in the area and made Bolton a production centre for textiles. This development was further fuelled by the Industrial Revolution, during which Bolton experienced a great urbanisation and development and became a boomtown, with, at its high point in 1929, 216 cotton mills and 26 bleaching and dying works. However, with the decline of the cotton industry in Britain after the First World War, cotton production nigh on disappeared form the town. Toady it is known through its successful football club, Bolton Wanderers, and the WBA World light-welterweight champion Amir Khan, who was born in Bolton.

Bolton is well connected to its neighbouring villages and towns through the local road network and national routes. The A666 coming down from Blackburn, Earcroft, Darwen and Egerton connects Bolton to the M61/M60 motorway interchange, which provide a comfortable connection to Chorley, Anglezarke, Grimeford, Middlebrook, Walkden, Kearsley, Eccles, Trafford Park, Sale, Baguley, Cheadle, Stockport, Ashton-under-Lyne, Failsworth, Oldham, Unsworth, Prestwich and of course Manchester. The national Express coach network serves Bolton and provides links to Manchester, Preston, Horwich, Clitheroe, Wilpshire, Rawtenstall, Todmorden, Bury and Heywood. Furthermore, Bolton is connected to Wigan, St. Helens, Prescot, Earlestown, Warrington, Manchester, Blackpool, Blackburn, Darwen, Halifax, Huddersfield, Stockport, Crewe, Chester and Liverpool by the Northern Rail. Bolton is located 20 miles northwest of Manchester Airport, which is the busiest UK airport outside the London area.

Bolton is home to several theatres including the Octagon and some independent groups such as the Phoenix Theatre Company and the Bolton Little Theatre. There are also the Albert halls, a theatre and conference complex, and the Mans Crest, which is home to the aquarium, art gallery, museum, central library, magistrates’ court and town hall. The Bolton Central Library was one of the first public libraries and was opened in 1853. Furthermore, at the Albert Halls and Victoria Halls in the town centre the Bolton Symphony Orchestra performs regular concerts. For sports Bolton has one of the largest Field Hockey Clubs, Bolton Hockey Club, two local cricked leagues, the football club Bolton Wanderers F.C. and a young baseball club called Bolton Robots of Doom. Besides those many attractions and points of interest, Boltonians were found to be the friendliest people in Britain by the British Association for the Advancement of Society.
