Commercial Offices to Let in Chippenham & Serviced Office Space to Rent in Chippenham, Wiltshire
Chippenham is a market town in Wiltshire, England. It is located 21 miles east of Bath, 20 miles southwest of Swindon and 163 miles west of London. The postcode is SN14-SN15 and the town has a population of approximately 28,000.
While there are some remains of Roman settlement in the area, Chippenham is believed to have been founded by the Anglo-Saxons around 600AD. Under the rule of Alfred the Great King of Wessex the town fell into the hands of the Danish, but was reclaimed by Alfred later the same year. In the 16th century, wool production became the main industry of the area, which posed a problem during the English Civil War when the Royalist prohibited trade and especially the sale of cloth to Parliamentarian controlled cities such as London. The railway arrived in Chippenham in 1842 and led to a rapid increase in population and the development of industrial agricultural businesses.
