Cinderford is a small town in Gloucestershire, England. It is located 14 miles southwest of Gloucester, 32 miles northeast of Newport and 36 miles north of Bristol. The postcode is GL14 and the town has a population of approximately 8,000.

The town came into existence as a product of the rapid growth of the local coal mining industry in the 19^th century. As many South Wales Valleys towns, Cinderford consists of long rows of similar terraced housing built mostly for efficiency, due to the sudden demand. In the 1950s many mines were closed and the whole area suffered greatly from the lack of other industries to fall back on. Today, the town has recovered from that shock and is home to a little light and heavy industry.
