Office Space in Holborn with a variety of flexible serviced office space to rent, meeting every budget & office requirement.
Holborn is an area of central London in the London Borough of Camden. Originally an empty field next to the City of London, it takes its name from the Holebourne, a tributary of the now underground River Fleet. The stream was a major goods route from the Thames into the City and the area was referred to as 'Holeburnstreete' for the first time in 1249. Holborn is situated to the north of Aldwych and the City and southwest of Clerkenwell; south of Bloomsbury and east of Covent Garden. Holborn is also the name of its principal east west street which crosses the borders between Camden and the City of London; running from St Giles High Street as High Holborn to Gray's Inn Road as Holborn Viaduct.
The nearest London Underground stations are Holborn which is the junction of the Central and Piccadilly Lines and the strategic location between the City of London and the West End; Chancery Lane; Covent Garden and St Paul's. Close by is Farringdon which is also served by trains from Brighton to Bedford giving access to Gatwick and Luton Airports. There is also access to City Thameslink and St Pancras International as well as the Eurostar. Charing Cross Underground and mainline station are also accessible. Holborn is served by many local and cross London bus routes.
Holborn is the traditional home of the legal profession. The Inns of Court, ancient legal centres, were located in Holborn symbolising the law as a mediator in the battle for power between the City and Westminster. The atmosphere of Holborn is still derived from the four surviving Inns: Lincoln's Inn which also houses the Royal College of Surgeons, Gray's Inn, Middle Temple and Inner Temple. The courtyards and passageways of these Inns are a quiet oasis from the busy capital. Many buildings survive from before the Great Fire of 1666, including the magnificent timber-framed façade of Staple Inn.
The impressive neo-Gothic Royal Courts of Justice, civil courts, are found in the Strand, and Chancery Lane, is home to the Law Society. Holborn was also once the home of the newspaper industry centred around Fleet Street, though most titles have now moved away from the area; there are still vestiges of the publishing industry remaining. Holborn is also famous for Hatton Garden the centre of London’s diamond trade. In the Strand, Somerset House stands on the site of the Tudor palace of the Dukes of Somerset. Once offices of the Inland Revenue, Somerset House now contains the Courtauld Gallery, the Gilbert Collection and the Hermitage Rooms. The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), one of the foremost social science universities in the world, is situated in Houghton Street.
Holborn is home to a very mixed retail environment providing many restaurants and pubs; high street names and a broad spectrum of independent outlets; it provides access to the theatres and restaurants in Covent Garden and the Strand. It is also famous for the market in Leather Lane. The commercial mix ranges from offices in converted houses to new builds; corporate and diplomatic offices. The area has many different styles of hotels and residential accommodation.
