A prestigious Grade II listed property has been acquired by a Bristol-based property developer. The offices in Bristol city centre were formally the home of Royal Sun Alliance but have been vacant for the last 18 months.
The highly prominent building known as West Gate, comprises 90,000 sq ft of office space in the heart of Bristol and could be redeveloped to provide new office accommodation but the property is also suitable for alternative uses and subject to planning may be converted to provide hotel, retail or student accommodation.
Commenting on the acquisition, Peter Walford, director at Cubex said: “West Gate is an iconic, landmark building that offers the opportunity for major indigenous and footloose office occupiers to stamp their identity within a prestigious setting in the heart of the City Centre.
“Generous on-site parking facilities plus excellent public transport links makes this an ideal choice and rare opportunity for corporate occupiers to secure large office space in one of the UK’s most sought after cities.
“The transaction fits in well with our strategy of looking for new opportunities to add value through market knowledge and development expertise.”
Before Royal Sun Alliance occupier the building, it was the corporate headquarters of SWEB. It was sold to Cubex by Aviva Investors.
