Buckinghamshire office space development of concern to residents
New Chalfont St Peter offices in Buckinghamshire opposed by local residents
Article posted: 28 Feb 2011
The extension of an office development in a Buckinghamshire village is cause for concern for local residents who believe that the new blocks will dwarf surrounding residential houses.
Barwood Developments has applied to Chiltern District Council for permission to construct a further three offices in Chalfont St Peter adjacent to an existing property which comprises 31,500 sq ft of office space and which is fully let to RWS Translations Ltd.
Residents are worried not only about being overlooked by office workers but also that the new offices will be imposing and cause congestion in the area with the amount of extra traffic coming in to the village.
A group calling themselves Sense 4 CSP has written to residents of two nearby roads asking them to object to the plans, stating that: "The plans show the offices will be the same size as the existing office block and the imposing height of the developments will dwarf adjacent residential houses.
"The additional traffic will impact significantly on congestion and availability of parking in Chalfont St Peter. We simply don't have the space in our village for the overspill which would result from the developer's proposal."
Plans have yet to be discussed by the district council’s planning committee.
Barwood Developments is based at offices in Northampton and markets itself as one of the leading independent privately owned property companies in the UK.
