British Land and other developers of office space in London have collaborated on a new green building toolkit for the capital. The initiative is the latest product of the Better Buildings Partnership (BPP), a group of leading commercial property firms that aims to reduce the carbon emissions of London's non-domestic buildings.
Justin Snoxall of British Land, who chairs the BPP group, said the toolkit promotes the establishment of green building management groups for all commercial premises.
"The savings that can be made are significant and sustainable," he commented.
"We are delighted that British Land were able to play a key role in developing the latest BPP initiative."
Several of the company's buildings that provide Central London office space have already achieved substantial energy savings, such as 201 Bishopsgate and 10 Exchange Square.
In an interview with Greenwise Business, programme manager at the BPP Chris Botton said British Land has saved an estimated £63,000 since setting up its own green building management group in 2008.
