Offices in the Thames Valley, South West and South Wales have been recognised for excellence in the British Council for Offices' annual regional Awards, at a prestigious ceremony that took place recently at the At-Bristol museum in Bristol.
This year’s entries demonstrated a genuine commitment to environmentally friendly and energy efficient design and winning the category for best Project up to 2,000 m˛ was Treglown Court in Cardiff.
Architects Stride Treglown, who designed and now occupy the offices in Cardiff, were rewarded for their delivery of a commercially viable, attractive, low carbon office environment which was credited with the highly respected BREEAM “Outstanding” rating.
The building was designed to accommodate over 50 staff on two floors in an open plan studio arrangement linked by an open tread staircase. It was completed and occupied in November 2010.
Richard Kauntze, Chief Executive of the BCO, commented: “This is the third year for the BCO regional awards and we’re excited to see the bar raised by this year’s entrants across both public and private sectors. The competition was fierce, with the South West proving that they are at the forefront of top quality sustainable design and functionality. We’re thrilled that developers continue to produce first class workspaces and it’s clear to see that the future is bright for offices in the region.”
Other awards went to offices in Salisbury, Reading, Wallingford and Cardiff.
