Land Securities has submitted a new planning application for permission to redevelop 30 Old Bailey and 60 Ludgate Hill, EC4 into 389,000 sq ft of contemporary office space in the City of London, together with retail accommodation, close to St Paul’s Cathedral.

The detailed plans, prepared by Fletcher Priest and Sauerbruch Hutton, seek permission for a mixed-use development which will replace two outdated properties from the 1960’s and assist in meeting the demand for Grade A, Square Mile offices. The development will also enhance leisure and retail facilities, pedestrian links and public spaces.

Colette O’Shea, Development Director, London Portfolio, Land Securities, said: “The proposed scheme at 30 Old Bailey and 60 Ludgate Hill will dramatically enhance the environment for the thousands of people who work and visit in this part of the City. The plans will bring contemporary offices to the London market where a shortage of supply is forecast, and will deliver new high quality retail and leisure facilities within London City. The scheme will also enhance the immediate vicinity and build on the success of One New Change in regenerating the area.”

The site has been masterplanned by Fletcher Priest in collaboration with Sauerbruch Hutton. 60 Ludgate Hill has been designed by Fletcher Priest; 30 Old Bailey has been designed by Sauerbruch Hutton. The submission follows a review of Land Securities original plans in 2007 in order to optimise the use space and deliver two separate buildings to better meet occupier requirements.
