The Angel Building, Allford Hall Monaghan Morris’s refurbished office project in Clerkenwell, has been shortlisted for the RIBA Stirling Prize 2011.
The Angel Building was commissioned by Derwent London and represents its largest redevelopment to date totalling 260,000 sq ft of office space in Clerkenwell, EC1. Occupiers include NG Bailey, Cancer Research, Expedia and Sage.

The Stirling Prize recognises the single building that has made the most significant contribution to architecture over the last 12 months and this is the third time the design practice has been shortlisted for this prestigious award.
The Angel Building is one of six shortlisted projects and the winning scheme will be announced on Saturday 1st October at Magna Science Adventure Centre in Rotherham and will be broadcast on a special edition of BBC TWO’s The Culture Show on Sunday 2nd October.
Other award-winning buildings by AHMM include The Yellow Building offices in Notting Hill, W11, which won the RIBA Award for architecture in 2009 and is home to Monsoon Accessorize. A mixed-use scheme providing residential and office space in Liverpool was also a past RIBA Architecture Award winner as was Clearwater Yard, a £1.9m development of office space in Camden, NW1.
