Rapidly growing North-East based engineering consultancy, MACAW, has increased its requirement for office space in Newcastle with a relocation of its head office to much larger premises at Quorum's Q5.

MACAW Engineering was established in 1996 by four senior engineers who worked at British Gas' Engineering Research Station, now, 15 years on MACAW employs 55 permanent staff with staff numbers rapidly increasing. This move to larger premises will provide space for up to 100 staff, which will enable the company to capitalise on its expansion plans during its next phase of growth.

MACAW operates in the energy sector, providing technical consultancy that helps companies maintain and manage the integrity of oil and gas production facilities and pipelines across the globe. Currently MACAW is undertaking projects in Mexico, Columbia and Asia Pacific as well as in the North Sea.

MACAW Engineering General Manager, Dr John Healy, said, “This is a very exciting time in the growth of MACAW with a real pick up in new business, a growth in staff together with a move to a much larger new office at Quorum.”

Quorum Business Park Development Director, Fergus Trim, said, “We are delighted to welcome a successful business like MACAW Engineering to Quorum Business Park. It is great news that a North East based company like MACAW is growing so fast and creating high value engineering jobs. It’s a great coup for Quorum.”

MACAW are the seventh new tenant to come to Quorum in the last two years and join established occupiers such as Tesco Bank, IBM and Balfour Beatty.
