Steatite, the UK’s largest provider of advanced computer-based measurement, automation systems and battery packs for mission-critical applications, have officially opened their new self contained purpose built facility comprising production, warehouse and office space in Redditch, Worcestershire.
The prime location within Ravensbank Business Park, only four miles from the M42 is accessible to its nationwide customer base which is continuing to expand despite the current financial climate, resulting in Steatite having to expand its production capabilities to meet customer demand.
In December 2010, Steatite won a £100k+ contract to supply industrial computers to the new BBC offices in Salford Quays for use in various control applications. Further to that Steatite secured another major contract worth over £250k with Enterprise PLC, the UK’s largest dedicated provider of maintenance and front-line services to the public sector and utility industry.
The new facility is more than double previous accommodation, increasing space from 12,000 sq ft to 25,000 sq ft with a view to improved production capability and reduced lead times.
Commenting on the move John Lavery, Managing Director said: “Since moving to Redditch, Steatite has created 42 jobs. Turnover has grown from £2.8m to £16m with plans to increase to a turnover of £30m. We want to continue employing local semi and skilled work force and we remain committed to working closely with our customers and developing strong relationships with blue-chip companies and smaller commercial customers alike.”
