International design practice supports EU Green Week at UK offices

Scott Brownrigg challenges its UK offices to reduce carbon footprint

Article posted: 27 May 2011

International design practice, Scott Brownrigg has been supporting EU Green Week this past week. Each of its offices in the UK has been challenged to reduce their carbon footprint and to get talking further about green issues, sustainable design and energy efficiency, through a week of workshops, presentations and the monitoring of office energy and waste. It is hoped that the week will have highlighted areas of improvement within each office and inform the future behaviour of staff and activities.

Jeff Pyrah, Director, who prepares the practice’s annual Corporate Responsibility Report said: “The objective is simple…. we want to get talking - there is a wealth of knowledge and passion in our practice and we want to ensure we are making the most of it.”

The week has been divided into daily themes - Awareness, Sustainable Design, Greenwash, Research and Transport.  Events included a presentation from RESET, a Wear it Green Charity Day, a presentation on “Sustainability for the Modern Office User”, an employee BBQ, using locally sourced food and alcohol and a lunchtime cycle and walk.

Scott Brownrigg is an international architectural practice with a heritage spanning almost 100 years. In recent years the practice has consistently been rated in the top 20 of the UK's top 100 practices and has worked on some of the UK's largest projects. The firm has offices in Guildford, Cardiff and London.
