International firms seek Dublin offices

Up to 830,000 sq ft of office space currently being sought in Irish city

According to a recent report by the Irish Times, around 730,000 sq ft of office space in Dublin is currently being sought by a number of international firms which could bring total office space lettings in the city to 1.5m sq ft by the end of the year.

Citibank is thought to have a requirement for around 100,000 sq ft in the city in a move which will mark an expansion of its business. It is also seeking office space in Waterford, creating 250 new jobs between the two new offices. It has been operating in Dublin for 45 years and currently employs over 2,000 people in Ireland.

Customer relationship manager software firm Salesforce has also appointed an agent to find it around 80,000 sq ft of accommodation in the city, while the same agent is looking for up to 100,000 sq ft of office space for Central Bank.

Meanwhile BNY Mellon is searching for a 200,000 sq ft Dublin HQ and is thought to be considering a new-build, unfinished office block in the Dublin Docklands which Allied Irish Bank had planned for its new headquarters.

While other office agents report an overall increase in enquiries for office space in the Irish capital, an unnamed firm has shortlisted Dublin for a major expansion of its business if a suitable 350,000 sq ft office can be found.

Over 550,000 sq ft of office space was let in the first quarter of 2011, and with deals like these in the pipeline Dublin’s office market is set to enjoy a much happier year than 2010.
