Best Corporate Workplace award for Canary Wharf offices

Some of the finest offices in London have been recognised for excellence in the British Council for Offices' annual London and South East Awards.
Over 500 property professionals gathered at the Marriott Grosvenor Square last week, to hear who had won Awards in this year's London and South East competition.
Winning the category for best Corporate Workplace was KPMG Project Gold, 15 Canada Square. The culmination of £340m of investment and five years of planning and development, KPMG’s impressive new purpose-built headquarters, comprising 400,000 sq ft of office space in Canary Wharf, has become home to 4,000 KPMG staff.
The BREEAM “Excellent” building is a highly original, sustainable building for the future, in an environment that both welcomes and supports KPMG’s clients. Providing flexible workspace, the 15-storey property has only 2,600 desk spaces to encourage ‘hot-desking.’ Staff will book a desk online or through a kiosk on each floor then simply plug in their laptops.
KPMG has consolidated its office locations to two properties, Canary Wharf and office space in the City of London at 8 Salisbury Square. The move from leasehold to freehold combined with the consolidation will represent operating cost savings of 10% to 15%. Vacated buildings include 200,000 sq ft of office space in Blackfriars and Farringdon and 125,000 sq ft at One Canada Square.
Other awards went to offices in Westminster, the City of London, Clerkenwell and Midtown.
