The region’s most impressive property schemes battled it out on Thursday night for top honours at the RICS North West Awards 2011. The prestigious property-based contest celebrates inspirational initiatives in the land, property and construction sectors and 44 short-listed projects from all over the North West were hoping to win one of nine coveted RICS accolades.
The winner of the Commercial category was St Paul’s Square, Liverpool, the gateway to the city’s new Central Business District, a prime business quarter centred on Old Hall Street and Pall Mall.
The 400,000 sq ft development comprises five buildings overlooking a stunning landscaped public square, which, in itself, has become a new inner-city destination. The first phase comprised 125,000 sq ft of office space in Liverpool city centre, 50 apartments, a restaurant and a car park.
The second phase office building provided a further 133,000 sq ft of Grade A accommodation, with the third and final phase, an office building of 109,000 sq ft, due for completion this month.
The scheme is being developed by Muse as development manager (and partner) in English Cities Fund, a delivery vehicle created in partnership with Legal & General and the Homes & Communities Agency to pave the way for higher levels of private investment in the re-shaping of our towns and cities.
Receiving a Highly Commended in the category of Community Benefit was the Bury Divisional Headquarter offices of Greater Manchester Police.
