Liverpool office space 'showing resilience'

New report gives Liverpool office space sector a positive outlook

A new report has hailed the resilience of Liverpool's office space market, despite revealing a significant fall in take-up last year.

The latest Liverpool Commercial Office Market Review shows total lettings across the city fell from 721,189 sq ft in 2009 to 393,441 sq ft in 2010, the Liverpool Daily Post reports.

However, take-up in 2009 was boosted by two major lettings of office space in Liverpool - the UK Borders Agency at The Capital and Merseytravel at Mann Island.

Max Steinberg, chief executive of Liverpool Vision, said the large number of new projects now under development is "encouraging" for the city's commercial property sector.

"Schemes worth £250 million have been completed last year and we can look forward to the months ahead," he told the newspaper.

New commercial developments on Merseyside include Central Village and the latest phase of the St Paul's Square project, which is expected to complete in May.
