New BT offices “top out” in West Bromwich

£18m development set to officially open in October

The ‘topping out’ ceremony at the BT building in Providence Place last week (7^th June) marked the completion of an £18m investment in office space in West Bromwich.

The final brick was laid at the 70,000 sq ft office complex in front of representatives from BT, Sandwell Council, Advantage West Midlands, the Birmingham-based developers Stoford and construction company Bowmer and Kirkland, just nine months after work got underway on the state-of-the-art building, scheduled to officially open in October.

The contemporary office space will be a flagship for environmentally sustainable regeneration and is the first new development in West Bromwich for more than 30 years.

It will bring 450 new jobs to the borough as well as house 500 Transform Sandwell employees who provide key services for Sandwell Council.

Councillor Ian Jones, Sandwell’s cabinet member for jobs and economy, said: “It’s fantastic to see this superb building completed. Providence Place is a vital part of the redevelopment of the town as high quality office space will help attract new investment.”

Jon Andrews, Managing Director of Stoford said “Today’s event is a landmark for one of the West Midlands biggest regeneration schemes that will attract business and create quality jobs in West Bromwich for many years come.”

Earlier this year the development site, formerly known as All Saints was renamed Providence Place, a reference to the chapel that was originally located on the site. It is at the junction of the A41 Expressway and Cronehills Linkway, and will provide a total of 245,000 sq ft of new office space in West Bromwich.
