New office space in Glasgow has been launched by Shepherd Chartered Surveyors.

The firm's new residential base at 196 Kilmarnock Road in Shawlands is the first Shepherd office to feature a 'shop front', designed to encourage passers-by to enter the building.

Martin Waite, who will head up the new branch, described it as a "response to the changing influence of the market".

He added: "Local knowledge, speed of service and an extremely professional approach means that being close to our customers is of primary importance."

Managing partner Ian Cameron said he was pleased to see the firm continue its expansion amid challenging economic conditions.

The Shawlands premises is Shepherd's second new office opening of the last 12 months and takes the company's total network of branches in Scotland up to 31.

It will serve all of Glasgow's southside area, including Clarkston, Newton Mearns and Whitecraigs.

In December 2010, Shepherd relocated its office space in Edinburgh's New Town from Chester Street to 12 Atholl Crescent.
