Marketing and communications agency Brass has opened new office space in London.

The Leeds-based firm decided to establish a base in the capital to serve clients in the south-east, but will retain its head office in the West Yorkshire city.

Brass, which employs about 160 people at its Leeds headquarters, said it has seen a substantial increase in the volume of work it receives from major clients such as GlaxoSmithKline, the Royal Mail and Mission Foods.

"More than half our clients are based outside Yorkshire and a good proportion of them are in the south-east," explained chief executive John Morgan.

He said the decision to rent offices in London will allow Brass to target companies in key sectors such as retail, travel and financial services.

Brass was formed last year following the merger of sister companies Brahm and Swamp.

Other clients of the firm include Horlicks, Ribena, Persimmon, Makro and Yorkshire Building Society.
