Bracknell set for new office space

Planning officers have given plans for new office space in Bracknell the green light

Councillors have granted planning permission for a new development of residential flats and office space in Bracknell.

The three-storey building will be built on what is currently the car park of the Old Manor Pub, one of the oldest buildings in the Berkshire town.

Although the development has faced criticism from local residents, it was unanimously approved at a recent meeting of Bracknell Forest Council's planning committee, Get Bracknell reports.

Committee members said the project will form an important part of the town centre's regeneration.

Planning officer Margaret McEvit told the newspaper: "It forms a link between the very prominent college building and the buildings in the town centre."

"It links with them in terms of features of the architecture and design."

According to a recent report from the Reading Post, Reading Borough Council is now on the lookout for office space in Berkshire after deciding to leave its Civic Centre home.
