Prince of Wales visits office development within historic country estate
1860's building on Welbeck Estate refurbished to provide new offices in Nottinghamshire

The historic Welbeck Estate is one of England’s finest country estates extending to some 15,000 acres of rural North Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. At its heart stands the historic Welbeck Abbey and Welbeck Village, which recently received a visit from HRH The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall.
The Royal couple were there to see the latest phase in the Welbeck Project which includes a £2.1m office development within the historic estate and which is now home to creative and digital media businesses.
Carriage Court is one of the estate buildings built by the fifth and sixth Dukes of Portland around 1860. Comprising over 9,000 sq ft of office space, Carriage Court has been sympathetically restored and updated to incorporate the features a modern office needs to thrive. Great care has been taken to preserve original features while meeting the essential demands of today’s workplace.
Commenting on the Royal visit, Robert Mayo, Development Director at the Welbeck Estates Company, said: “We were all honoured and very excited about the Royal visit. The Welbeck Project is an ambitious project which will be transformational for the estate, and will bring significant economic and social benefits to Bassetlaw District and the wider East Midlands region.”
“The Prince of Wales has a well-known passion for architecture, and we were delighted to show him how we are finding new uses for the many historic and listed buildings on the estate.”
The refurbished offices close to Nottingham and Sheffield are conveniently located for the M1 and A1 and not far from Retford train station with its 95 minute connection time to London.
