NFU Mutual's relocation to new office space in Glasgow will enable the insurer to create more than 40 additional jobs.

Following the move to purpose-built premises on Wellington Street, the company is looking to expand its workforce in key areas such as customer service, claims and administration.

The expansion plans will be supported by a regional selective assistance grant of up to £200,000 from Scottish Enterprise.

Donny MacLeod, manager of NFU Mutual Direct, said the location of the firm's new building places it in the heart of the financial services district in Glasgow.

"We hope our larger premises will become a centre of excellence, reflecting our strong performance and our commitment to strengthening our presence in Scotland," he added.

NFU Mutual had been based at Bath Street in Glasgow since 1975 before completing the move to Wellington Street.

The company has more than 300 local branches nationwide and serves over 870,000 customers.
