Companies look set to be offered new office space in Manchester following a deal for the Freemasons' Hall.A joint venture by Ford Campbell Property Investments and Vision Developments has purchased the landmark Bridge Street building, which will be converted into a mixed-use business, conference and leisure centre.
Under the terms of the deal, the Freemasons will retain the freehold but the partnership has been granted a 999-year lease.
"The building is on the doorstep of Spinningfields and offers unique potential for a quality business and conference centre," said Tony Ford, founder of Ford Campbell Property Investments.
A planning application for the development will be submitted later this year, with work on the Grade II listed building due to begin in April 2012.
The Freemasons will continue to occupy the third floor of the property, which will be refurbished to create lodge rooms and accommodation.
Completed in 1929, the building currently offers a number of suites with conference, banqueting and wedding facilities.
