Competition for office space in Liverpool means facelifts for old properties
Iconic waterfront buildings undergo multi-million pound refurbishment projects
Article posted: 31 Dec 2010
Three of Liverpool’s most iconic buildings known as the Three Graces are each undergoing major refurbishment projects in order to meet the demand for Grade A office space in the Merseyside city.
The Pier Head buildings, The Royal Liver, Cunard, and Port of Liverpool properties, sit side by side on Liverpool’s waterfront and have been subject to multi-million pound facelifts in order to retain the variety of commercial tenants who currently occupy them.
A £20m upgrade is almost complete at the Royal Liver Building, headquarters of Royal Liver Assurance, which celebrates its centenary in 2011.
Restoration of the Port of Liverpool building has cost around £15m and is one of the largest privately-funded refurbishments of a listed building ever undertaken in the UK.
Work at the Cunard building is scheduled for completion in September 2011.
