Orbit Developments has let 9,000 sq ft of office space in Stockport at Applicon House to Canadian-owned business, The Cash Store.
It is the second significant Stockport deal Orbit has signed in as many weeks after it let 9,720 sq ft of office space in Cheadle at its Park Square scheme, to US-owned engineering consultancy, Jacobs Engineering.
The Cash Store already has a growing retail presence across the UK. As part of the deal, it is understood that the company will locate and grow its admin function and contact centre in Stockport. The move is expected to create a significant number of jobs in the area, both in the short-term and as a result of further growth.
Applicon House is a six-storey building based on Exchange Street in Stockport. The building now has an occupancy level of over 80% and there is significant interest in the remaining ground floor.
Rhys Owen, leasing surveyor at Orbit Developments, commented: "Stockport is witnessing exciting growth at the moment. This is a sizeable letting by an international company and will have positive implications for the local economy. We only have one floor left at Applicon House, which we hope to let before the end of the year. We are also seeing strong interest in our other Stockport properties."
Councillor Dave Goddard, leader of Stockport Council, said: "It's great news that Stockport is continuing to attract long-term commitment from international companies. Our town centre has great transport connections with good rail and motorway links and is only 10 minutes from Manchester International Airport. We are ideally placed to welcome major companies and are delighted that The Cash Store has decided to locate here."
The Cash store signed a 10-year lease with a quoting rent of £12.95 per sq ft. The Cash Store was represented by Leslie Roberts & Co. While Orbit Developments acted for itself.
