Property firm buys Nottingham office space building from E.on

E.ON's Nottingham office building, currently under construction, sold for £30 million

Charles Street Buildings has purchased energy giant E.ON's new offices in Nottingham in a £30 million deal.

Although construction work on the 105,000 sq ft building only began last month, the Leicester-based property investor agreed to buy it from construction firm Miller Birch.

The development was pre-let to E.ON on a 15-year lease - the largest pre-letting seen outside the market for office space in London last year.

"When we initially proposed the scheme we were excited by its potential and it is a clear indication of the quality of the development that it has attracted so much interest," said Mark Bielby, development director at Miller Birch.

Situated on the site of Nottingham City Council's former treasury building, the nine-storey building is due for completion in August 2012.

E.ON plans to move staff to the new development when the lease on its existing office space in Nottingham at Newland House expires next year.

The company employs about 6,600 people at offices across Nottinghamshire.
