Quorum Business Park beat off some stiff competition to win the prestigious title of Commercial Project of the Year at the 2011 RICS North East Renaissance Awards, which recognises the most impressive buildings and new developments in the region over the last 12 months.

Despite continuing economic challenges to the sector, 2011 proved to be an incredible year with yet another record number of entries flooding in for the awards from across the region. This included several major university projects, public sector schemes, new housing, new schools, new shops and new offices as well as a ‘green’ pet hospital.

Quorum boasts 900,000 sq ft of high quality office space with further development ongoing. Due to be completed by the end of this year, building Q10, which at 107,913 sq ft will be larger than its neighbouring Tesco Bank building, forms part of Quorum’s current construction phase covering 10 different buildings from 26,000 sq ft to 107,000 sq ft of office space at the Newcastle scheme.

Commenting on the award, Quorum Development Director, Fergus Trim said: "Quorum are delighted to win this year's RICS Commercial Award.  The competition in this category was strong with other short listed entries including St Andrew's Walk, Eldon Square."

"This Award recognises the investment we are making at Quorum in terms of its accessibility, fantastic on-site amenities and high-end office space, which has so far attracted major blue chip companies and inward investments and created 1000's of jobs in the region."
