Siemens announce developer shortlist for Manchester offices

Bruntwood, Kier, Emerson Group & Wrenbridge shortlisted for South Manchester development

Article posted: 29 Dec 2011

Having recently secured Regional Growth Fund support from the UK Government, Siemens plc has shortlisted four parties to enter into detailed negotiation for the future of its prime 20-acre Princess Parkway site to include a significant proportion of new office space in South Manchester.

Bruntwood, Kier, The Emerson Group and Wrenbridge (with Palmer Capital and Vinci) have been invited to submit detailed financial proposals and, in consultation with Manchester City Council (MCC), a preferred developer is expected to be selected by Spring 2012.

Siemens employs 800 people on the site and has plans to increase this to 1,200 people in three years via the development of offshore wind power transmission technologies. The investment and job creation is due to national and international investments in green infrastructure.

The MCC-backed mixed-use scheme will be anchored by a new 100,000 sq ft office building for use by Siemens. The in situ, Sir William Siemens House, will be refurbished whilst the balance of the site will be developed in phases to provide new office, hotel and residential accommodation. In addition to Siemens' growing occupational requirement, it is anticipated that the development will drive economic growth and employment for the benefit of the wider region. The scheme is subject to the board approval of Siemens AG.

Adam White, Associate Director at Jones Lang LaSalle, who advises Siemens, said: "The shortlisted parties have all displayed strong delivery credentials and alongside Siemens’ globally recognised and market leading brand, we are confident that we will be able to deliver a scheme of exemplar status."
