Capital Symonds’ Swindon Regional Partnership has completed work on the refurbishment of Civic Offices in Swindon town centre. The project was central to a move by the local council’s Register Office from nearby Aspen House to the Offices’ ground floor.
The Capita Symonds team was instructed by the council to manage the works and, despite several challenges, the project was delivered on time.
The team worked closely with the end users to create an environment that was in keeping with the 1930’s architecture. The newly refurbished areas, in particular the two Register Office ceremony rooms, are welcoming, fresh and replicate the art deco style, but also provide up to date services with a contemporary twist.
As part of this project, the Capita Symonds team also managed a number of other moves and refurbishments with the Main Civic Offices including alterations to the ICT block to accommodate the Liberal Democrat and Labour Leaders offices, and to provide an NWOW style office for ICT staff.
Mamie Beasant the Superintendent for the Register Office said in her open day speech: “Our project manager for this build has shared our enthusiasm for this move and the decoration of our offices and ceremony rooms and put enormous effort into consulting us about everything from the paint on the walls, to the lights in the ceilings to the handles on the doors and the design of the reception counter.”
