Wandsworth Council has approved plans for a Rogers Stirk Harbour & Partners-designed scheme close to the iconic Battersea Power Station. The development will comprise residential, leisure, retail and office space in the Nine Elms area of south west London.
Tideway Wharf is being development by St James which is a subsidiary of Berkeley Group and will be the first major scheme to get off the ground within the wider Nine Elms regeneration area. St James expect to be on site by April providing the necessary approval is given by Boris Johnson.
Commenting on news of the approval, Sean Ellis, managing director of St James Group, said: “This is the first detailed consent to be granted in the Vauxhall Nine Elms Battersea (VNEB) opportunity area, the largest regeneration area in central London. We believe this is an exceptional scheme and sets the new standard for riverside living in London.”
Tideway Wharf is a five acre site, within the Nine Elms Opportunity Area, the largest regeneration area within Central London. St James proposes to create quality areas of public realm around the site to be enjoyed by residents and the local community, enhancing the river frontage with the creation of an improved river walk, which will benefit from quality hard and soft landscaping creating places for everyone to enjoy.
