i2 Office Glasgow hits 85% occupancy

45MB broadband option helps attract new clients

Technology focussed serviced office provider i2 Office has announced that it has now achieved an occupancy level of 85% at its serviced offices in Glasgow since opening the doors in January of this year. Amongst the recent new clients are PMSS, international consultants in renewable energy, and SmartestEnergy, the UK’s leading purchaser and supplier of energy from the independent generation sector. The prestigious business centre is housed in the Grade ‘A’ office scheme at 2 West Regent Street.

Iain Robertson, SmartestEnergy’s Business Development Manager for Scotland, explained more about the company's move to West Regent Street: “The number of businesses, landowners and communities in Scotland which SmartestEnergy purchases electricity from has grown significantly over the years. With a very strong pipeline of new projects we are expanding the team and we felt it was the right time to establish an office.

"We knew we wanted to be in Glasgow and after reviewing a number of possible venues it became clear that i2 Office's location combined with the exceptional quality of its internal environment was by far the best option.  With our head office and IT services based in London, and the need to share and work on large files, it was also imperative that we had a robust IT offering. i2 Office's ability to offer a superfast, 45MB bandwidth as part of the package was a deciding factor in our selection."

SmartestEnergy has taken office space for six people and has already utilised the boardroom for its highly successful launch event, held last month. Longer term, the company envisages holding at least one full board meeting a year in Scotland and also plans to host industry seminars at the West Regent Street site.

"We are seeing an increasing demand for the superfast, extra bandwidth as more and more businesses want to use desktop video conferencing, cloud computing and to stream media. This is available at all our centres across the country and we believe it will be a key factor in attracting and retaining companies over the coming months," commented Philip Grace, CEO of i2 Office.
