Commercial Offices to Let in Daventry & Serviced Office Space for Rent in Daventry, Northamptonshire

Daventry is a market town in Northamptonshire, England and is located 13 miles west of Northampton, 31 miles south of Leicester and 21 miles southeast of Coventry. The postcode is NN11 and the town has a population of approximately 22,000.

The oldest traces of civilisation found in the area were found on Borough Hill in form of the largest Iron Age hill ford found in Britain and the remains of a Roman villa. The Anglo-Saxons founded the village in 920 and it was granted a charter in 1255 when it became a market town. The name Daventry originates from the Celtic dwy-afon-tre which means “the town of two rivers” and describes the location of the town near the rivers Nene and Leam. During the English Civil War the army of King Charles I camped just outside Daventry on their way to relieve the siege of Oxford. Daventry was one of the few towns that suffered from the arrival of the railway, because it had grown as a coaching town on the way from London to Holyhead. The Industrial Revolution marked a time of stagnation and decline for the town since it was not directly connected to either the railway or the canals built during that time. The growth of the town started when a tapered roller bearing manufacturer built a large factory and plans for the town’s expansion were put into motion in the late 19th century.
