Leeds Bradford International Airport has experienced significant and rapid growth in both terminal size and passenger facilities. South Yorkshire is served by the Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield, based in Finningley.

Yorkshire has a long tradition in the field of sports, with participation in football, rugby league, cricket and horse racing. Yorkshire County Cricket Club represents the county in the domestic first class cricket County Championship; with a total of 30 championship titles, 12 more than any other county, Yorkshire is the most decorated county cricket club.

Yorkshire is famous for the Yorkshire terrier, Yorkshire pudding, Yorkshire Bitter, ginger beer and liquorice.
