Commercial Property to Rent in East Anglia & Serviced Offices to Let in  East Anglia

East Anglia is a traditional name for a region of eastern England. East Anglia initially consisted of Norfolk and Suffolk, but upon the marriage of the East Anglian princess Etheldreda, the Isle of Ely also became part of the kingdom.

East Anglia now forms part of the East of England government office region comprising the counties of Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire including the city of Peterborough unitary authority area. The East of England is one of the nine official regions of England created in 1994. It includes the ceremonial counties of Essex, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.

The principal East Anglian cities include Norwich, (the eighth most prosperous shopping destination in the UK in 2006), whilst the East of England Regional Assembly is seated in Bury St. Edmunds, a historic market town in the county of Suffolk, England and formerly the county town of West Suffolk. Peterborough and Cambridge. Ipswich, Colchester and Huntingdon are technically towns, although Ely is also a city.

Norwich is a busy city with a service-based economy. Aviva (formerly known as Norwich Union) still dominates these, but has been joined by other insurance and financial services companies. Norwich has long been associated with the manufacture of mustard. The world famous Colman's brand, with its yellow packaging, was founded in 1814 and continues to operate from its factory at Carrow. Norwich also has a number of important museums which reflect both the rich history of the City and of Norfolk, as well as wider interests, several theatres and a wealth of historical architecture.

Much of the area is characterised by its flatness, partly consisting of fenland and reclaimed marshland, though much of Suffolk and Norfolk is gently rolling hills. It was for this reason that during the Second World War, the RAF and the United States Air Force constructed many air bases in East Anglia for the heavy bomber fleets of the Combined Bomber Offensive against Nazi-occupied Europe.
